Copperopolis, “A Lucky Penny” -
Located on Highway 4, just west of Angels Camp, is Copperopolis.
In the 1860’s, 19 million pounds
of copper was mined here. Mining sites and other historical
artifacts can still be seen alongside restored buildings.
Copperopolis no longer holds claim
to any working mines, but visitors and residents enjoy recreational
attractions including Saddle Creek’s 18-hole Golf Course and
the beautiful Lake Tulloch.
