Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) falls just two days after the October 31 Halloween celebration. November 2 is filled with dancing, feasts and the traditional Calaveras face paintings. So why is this holiday from Mexico so important to the Gold Country? One of our very own county's shares its name with the costume: Land of the Skulls (Calaveras meaning skulls).
